The Flower Guy: Michael De Feo

I love twitter so much because I come across the craziest things on my timeline that I never would’ve seen otherwise. I mean, I’m really not the type to go to a website to read articles or whatever without being linked to it.

Anyway, enough talk. I saw this article about an artist, Michael De Feo, who uses magazine covers/ fashion ads as canvas for his art- two of my favourite things; fashion magazines & art and thought it’d be cool to share. Now this might seem random but I got to thinking about how I would love to frame these covers and hang them up as decor. They’re colourful enough to brighten up any space you decide to put them up in.

“these magazines are loaded with fabulous images and I pored over them. It was then that I decided that I needed to interact with these, as well, so I tore out pictorials and ads that interested me and painted on top of them.”

Not gonna lie, at first I thought the artist was just some art student or something but he seems to be a big deal. Like I’m honestly embarrassed considering his work has appeared in film documentaries, books as well as exhibited in galleries and museums in New York, Paris, London, Puerto Rico etc. and his paintings on fashion ads/ photographs have been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Paper, TIME and i-D. He’s also collaborated with fashion brands including Neiman Marcus & Christian Louboutin. Shook. You can head to his bio page to read about him/ his work cause there’s A LOT more.
