[HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY]
Ok I hope you guys freak over this Upper East Side apartment as I much as I did when I saw the pictures. You’ve probably seen better but THERE’S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT IT. It’s literally 7am and I’m on here typing out this post.
I’m a huge fan of James Aman’s work so I wasn’t surprised to find out that he designed the apartment (in collaboration with Architect, Mark Stumer).
The entrance gallery displays pieces from the owners’ collection, including paintings by Jean Dubuffet , Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Jim Dine; and sculptures by Roy Lichtenstein, Bruce Nauman etc. Imagine basically having a museum for an apartment. Wow.
I’m not really big on the nude painting above the bed but it does tie everything together and add colour / character to the room so it works. I love the mostly neutral colour scheme with big splashes of colour here and there. My two favourite things in the room are definitely the lucite nesting tables by Plexi Craft and the room divider.
There are so many individual pieces I absolutely love in this living room. Side eyeing the Claude Lalanne bronze chair in the top picture and the centre table. The room features works from Alex Katz, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Eric Fischl, Cy Twonbly and so on, which in addition to the pieces in other parts of the house is just spectacular. It would be a dream to own so much art.
Also, I don’t know if it’s just me because I’m half asleep, but the abstract piece (second picture, left) at first glance reminded me of Megan Fox? Not so much in the last pic 🙃.
There’s a certain level of playfulness to this room that I’m kind of obsessed with. I love the somewhat mismatch of basically everything in the room; from the contrast between the colour and texture of the sofas to the art pieces.
